Principal AI Research Scientist

We're looking for a Principal AI Research Scientist to join our AI for Good team, focusing on developing foundation models and generative AI solutions for Indian languages and contexts. You'll contribute to cutting-edge research while solving real-world problems impacting millions.

• Lead research initiatives in large language models, multimodal AI, and generative AI applications
• Develop AI models optimized for Indian languages, dialects, and cultural contexts
• Publish research papers at top-tier conferences (NeurIPS, ICML, ACL, CVPR)
• Collaborate with product teams to transition research prototypes into production systems
• Mentor junior researchers and contribute to Microsoft's global AI research community
• Partner with academic institutions and contribute to open-source AI initiatives

• 8+ years of research experience in AI/ML with focus on NLP, computer vision, or generative AI
• PhD in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, or related field from top-tier institution
• Strong publication record at premier AI/ML conferences and journals
• Expertise in deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow) and large-scale model training
• Experience with transformer architectures, attention mechanisms, and foundation models
• Proficiency in Python and experience with distributed computing frameworks
• Track record of translating research into impactful real-world applications
