Backend Developer

The Backend Developer will design and build high-performance, scalable backend systems that power PhonePe's core payment and financial services platforms. This role demands expertise in distributed systems, microservices architecture, and the ability to handle millions of transactions with zero downtime.

• Design, develop, and maintain highly scalable backend services handling millions of daily transactions
• Build robust microservices architecture using Java/Kotlin, Spring Boot, and distributed systems technologies
• Implement efficient database designs, caching strategies, and API architectures for optimal performance
• Collaborate with product managers, architects, and frontend teams to deliver end-to-end features
• Ensure code quality through comprehensive testing, code reviews, and adherence to best practices
• Participate in on-call rotations and troubleshoot production issues with quick resolution

• 6+ years of hands-on experience in backend development with strong expertise in Java, Kotlin, or similar languages
• Deep understanding of microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and distributed systems design
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, Cassandra)
• Proficiency in messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ) and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Strong problem-solving skills with ability to design solutions for scale, reliability, and performance
• B.Tech/M.Tech in Computer Science or related field from premier institutions preferred
• Prior experience in fintech, payments, or high-transaction systems is a significant advantage
